Kangding Ray

Raster Noton

Born in france in 1978 and educated as an architect, David Letellier is Kangding Ray, one of the most special projects today.
After several years as a guitarist and drummer in different bands of rock, pop and jazz, David Letellier was converted to electronica and began working in the field of experimental music, performances and installations.
In 2006 he released his debut album “Stabil” (Raster Noton, 2006) showing his intentions where glitches and pianos were allied with guitar loops and acoustic instruments towards achieving a kind, intense and unique sound. Two years later “Automme fold” (Raster Noton, 2008) was released, his confirmation anda n essential album where David Letellier shows his ability to construct songs that arise from the absolute experimentation to become twilight passages of emotional electronica.

The music of Kangding Ray is on the boundary between the extreme sensitivity and the abstract, between experimentation and pop structure, digital texture and warmth of the melody. His intelligent building game based on rhythmic loops, voices and microsounds is elevated to full power on his live band performances, where, as it will happen in L.E.V. 2010, David Letellier is sorrounded by drums, bass and guitar to create an experience that achieves maximum levels of intensity.
