Herman Kolgen “Dust”
Inspired by the photography of Man Ray & Marcel Duchamp “Élevage de poussière”, Dust is a high-definition audiovisual show that explores the changing state of matter. On the edge of the imperceptible, pigment particles are suspended on a magnetic field. Random fibers take part to form objects later, compounds, hypnotics due to their complexity. Sound particles are coupled, added, existing on a scale that supersedes any benchmark. And then Dust turns to dust and visual surface into a real accumulation of X-rays.
Prestigious and full of international recognition gained for 20 years, Herman Kolgen is a multidisciplinary artist who lives and works in Montreal. An audiocinetic sculptor who develops his own material from the close relationship between sound and image. His creations take the form of installations, video, performances or sound sculptures. In continuous experimentation, Herman Kolgen works in the borderline where all the media are, developing a new technique and aesthetic language.
