dot tape dot presents his particular sound universe in two concerts in collaboration with the recently created Agrupación Coral Expandida De Gijón.

A mix of field recordings, bleeps, 8-bit sounds, DIY electronics and custom software, all subjected to the particular sound treatment of an artist full of poetry and emotional intensity.

DANIEL ROMERO: DOT TAPE DOT

Daniel Romero is a multimedia creator and musician born in Avilés (Asturias) in 1978. His professional career has been focused on digital experimentation based on his knowledge of free hardware and software, and interactive creation using video game engines.

As a musician, under the pseudonym dot tape dot, he has released records for the last 15 years in labels such as Nature Bliss (Tokyo, Japan), Other Electricities (Miami, USA), Aspic Records (Lyon, France) or SpaR.K (Barcelona). , Spain) and carried out audiovisual performances all over the world. His installation work has focused on the creation of algorithmic and generative musical systems from data processing in real time, as in “qlux puba – música para 200 brincadores” (Arenas Movedizas 2010) or “Xixón Sound – Allegro para una flotilla de autobuses” (Asturian Digital Art Award Avaart, 2013). In addition, in collaboration with the graphic artist Fernando Gutiérrez, he has received the ABC Award from ARCO (Madrid, 2011) and the VIDA Award – Art and Artificial Life from Telefónica (Madrid, 2014).

From 2009 to 2014, he co-directed the free radio for young people of the Youth Service of Avilés City Council. In 2013, he set up the Sound Laboratory of LABoral Centro de Arte and, until 2019, he was head of the Department of Digital Creation of the National Dramatic Center of Montpellier. Since 2008, he has worked as a sound designer, actor or digital creator for theater companies such as La Carnicería (Rodrigo García, Spain), Colectivo84 (Lisbon) or Luis Garay (Buenos Aires). In 2019, he presented his first stage work, “Le Comité”, a science fiction story that mixes artificial intelligence techniques, robotics and interactive multimedia creation in real time. He has recently launched Despacho de Movimiento en Flujo (a dissemination project in contemporary dance and performance networks), interactive multiplayer virtual spaces for schools and highschools, and teacher training programs in the critical and creative use of technology, such as auLAB Project.
