Scottish composer and experimental music pioneer Drew McDowall, best known for his work with Psychic TV and Coil, presents a live audiovisual performance at L.E.V. Matadero in collaboration with Portuguese filmmaker Pedro Maia. Based on McDowall’s latest album, A Thread, Silvered and Trembling (2024), the performance unfolds through modular synthesis, electroacoustic composition, and layered sonic textures that move between intimacy and vast, cosmic abstraction. Maia’s analogue and cross-media visual practice, combining classical film techniques with contemporary experimentation, expands these immersive sound worlds into a hypnotic audiovisual experience suspended between ritual, dream, and cinematic hallucination.
