TEATRO DE LA LABORAL
RYOJI IKEDA | KATARINA GRYVUL W/ ALEX GUEVARA | COLIN SELF | PINCH & LOREM | AMELIE DUCHOW | YESSI PERSE
Teatro de la Laboral will be once again one of the main venues for the festival on Friday, May 2, and Saturday, May 3. This year, L.E.V. presents performances by artists it has closely followed, now giving us the opportunity to enjoy their new work.
One of the highlights in this edition is the renowned Japanese electronic composer and visual artist Ryoji Ikeda, who will showcase his latest work Ultratronics [live] at Teatro de la Laboral, thanks to the support of the Japan Foundation (Madrid). Released by Codex | Edition and Noton (DE), this work reflects Ikeda’s mastery in combining sound and light with mathematical precision within a minimalist aesthetic, a hallmark in electronic music. Recognized for his ability to master both visual and sound media, Ikeda will perform a show merging visual effects, physical phenomena, and mathematical concepts, characteristic of his innovative installations and live performances.
The festival will also feature a performance by Katarina Gryvul with Alex Guevara, with the Spanish premiere of SPOMYN, a multidisciplinary performance based on Gryvul’s upcoming eponymous album. This project is a deep analysis of the fragility of human memory, an emotionally charged process that explores how distortion and loss define our essence. With a peculiar sound that fuses distorted pop choruses, powerful basslines, and irregular rhythmic patterns, the performance will be complemented by a spectacular visual display that offers a unique immersive experience.
Acclaimed artist Colin Self returns to L.E.V. after captivating the audience with his previous performance at Muséu del Pueblu d’Asturies in 2019. This time he will present ¡Gasp!, the second opera in his Self’s Shadow series. This work explores themes such as transdimensional dialogue, spiritual guidance, and queer ancestry through a captivating blend of singing, movement, and show. Self’s work expands consciousness by questioning binarism and exploring the limits of perception and communication, in a proposal that invites the audience to participate in a collective and interdimensional experience.
We will also be able to enjoy the collective work by PINCH & LOREM, titled A RED RABBIT. An immersive audiovisual journey in the form of a live show, where the audience is invited to follow a narrative of mystery and tension. The work plays with the idea of the unknown, leading the spectators to enter a universe where the boundaries between the real and the imaginary blur.
We will also welcome Amelie Duchow, as she presents her project LOGOS MATER. This sound composition is inspired by the phonetic and acoustic elements of languages from around the world, carrying out a creative process based on global participation. Through a web platform, Duchow invites people from all over the world to record their voices, and the vocal contributions are then transformed and analyzed by the artist. As a result, each live performance of LOGOS MATER adds the latest contributions, creating a unique and constantly evolving work that connects people through a universal language: sound. This project has been chosen as one of the winners of raster – media for soundtrack Europe 2025. The project website will remain active throughout all shows, allowing new voices to continue expanding the sonic universe of LOGOS MATER.
YESSi PERSE, the artistic duo formed by Jesús C González and Miguel Gómez, has established itself as a reference point at the crossroads of digital art, performance, and sound experimentation. Their proposal combines science fiction, avatar identity, and posthuman ecologies, blurring the boundaries between the virtual and the physical, the institutional and the popular. This year’s L.E.V., they will showcaseTOP5: Fairytales of Eternal Economic Growth, a concept album that explores the impact of large tech corporations —Meta, Microsoft, Amazon, Google, and Apple— on today’s society. Through a sound aesthetic that blends choral polyphony, synthetic voices, and medieval compositions, YESSi PERSE reflects on technofeudalism, data extraction, and the digital servitude imposed by the big tech.
NAVE DE LABORAL CENTRO DE ARTE
AMNESIA SCANNER W/ FREEKA TET | BABII | IGLOOGHOST | MUN SING | CORTICAL
L.E.V. Festival 2025 will continue its night activities on Saturday, May 3rd at Nave de LABoral Centro de Arte, a space where sound and light will merge to invite the audience to delve into new experiential dimensions. A series of concerts by national and international artists who navigate the boundaries of electronic and experimental music will be presented on this stage.
One of the most anticipated performances will be Amnesia Scanner, the Finnish duo formed by Ville Haimala and Martti Kalliala, who, in collaboration with Freeka Tet, the New York-based French digital artist, their new joint project, HOAX. The collective performance will be an energetic spectacle where sound will merge with image in a high-voltage sensory experience. Amnesia Scanner are famous for their transformative approach to electronic music, delving into the vulnerabilities of the system and emotional overload. On the other hand, Freeka Tet blends experimental visual art with elements of the Internet, memes, and irrational human behavior, creating completely immersive images and sounds.
BABii, alter ego of the electronic creator and adventurer Daisy Warne will showcase her new album Daredevil 2000, in which she delves into an abstract interpretation of evil, projected onto her imaginary vision of hell. With this work, she continues to conceptualize narratives from previous works with a darker and more experimental approach.
This year, the festival welcomes Iglooghost, the alias of British artist Seamus Malliagh, who will present his third, new album Tidal Memory Exo, released by LUCKYME®. This work was written and produced in a storm-battered coastal town in the UK, and as a result, it combines highly detailed soundscapes with a fictional narrative of trilobite civilizations and mutant musical genres. Live, his performance transforms this mythology into a unique audiovisual experience.
British artist Mun Sing, also known as Harry Wright, will take the audience on an emotional and performative journey with his new live show. Famous for his complex theatrical club music productions and ironic approach, he will showcase his next EP, Frolic, which Illegal Data will release in 2025. His performance will combine intense rhythms, a cathartic performance, and hypnotic lighting, guiding attendees through a journey of vulnerability, challenge, and emptiness.
This space will also host Cortical, the new project by Sevi Iko Dømochevsky and Daniel Benza, two multidisciplinary artists based in Barcelona, who will present a performance that blends noise/experimental and industrial music with a radical approach to club music. Characterized by the power of its percussive elements, their performance features a unique balance between minimalism and extreme maximalism. They will play their long-awaited debut EP, Wretched Patterns and Terrible Mistakes.
