The Festival\u2019s extensive line up, with audiovisual shows, performances and sound experiences, will take place at several spaces of Matadero Madrid such as Nave 16 (equipped with the immersive Soundscape sound system), Nave 0, Plaza Matadero and Cineteca Madrid.<\/li>\n<li>The Festival, which will count on the presence of big names of electronic music and audiovisual creation such as Morton Subotnick (accompanied by Lillevan and Alec Empire), A\u00efsha Devi, Plaid, or Ryochi Kurokawa, will also feature a\u00a0<strong>new section, VORTEX<\/strong>, which will offer unique experiences related to Virtual Reality.<\/li>\n<li>Tickets for L.E.V. Doors to other worlds.<\/p>\n<p>Nowadays, technological media are constantly evolving, and the audiovisual environment has turned into something complex, interactive and ubiquitous, causing major changes in the formats of contemporary creation and, because of this, profound alterations in our perception of reality.<\/p>\n<p>Curated by L.E.V., and with the support of several international institutions,\u00a0<strong>VRTX<\/strong>\u00a0uses hybrid projects born in the crossroads of cinema, arts and technology, thinking, video games and virtual reality, to create a model that will help us to reflect on our digital identity and the actual implications of the virtual worlds we inhabit.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;40px&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][edgtf_section_title position=&#8221;left&#8221; disable_separator=&#8221;no&#8221; title_tag=&#8221;h4&#8243; disable_title_break_words=&#8221;no&#8221; title=&#8221; IMMERSIVE VIRTUAL REALITY EXPERIENCES AND VR CINEMA AT NAVE 0 AND CINETECA\u2019S ARCHIVE&#8221;][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;20px&#8221;][vc_column_text]<u>Virtual Reality<\/u>\u00a0shows at VRTX will test our ability to interact with generative virtual worlds through works such as\u00a0<strong><em>Hana Hana<\/em><\/strong>, by\u00a0<strong>Melodie Mousset.\u00a0<em>#Alphaloop<\/em>,<\/strong>\u00a0by\u00a0<strong>Deletere,\u00a0<\/strong>will drag us into a collective experience where technology usurps the \u201cconventional\u201d perception of reality. We will also enjoy new forms of narrative with\u00a0<strong><em>Gloomy Eyes<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0<strong><em>Battlescar \u2013 Punk Was Invented By Girls<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0(in their complete versions, recently premiered at Venice Festival).[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;20px&#8221;][vc_video link=&#8221;https:\/\/vimeo.com\/311401274&#8243; align=&#8221;center&#8221;][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;20px&#8221;][vc_column_text]Immersive sound experimentation will arrive to Nave 0 with\u00a0<strong><em>Near Dante Experience<\/em>,\u00a0<\/strong>by\u00a0<strong>Laura Manelly<\/strong>, the first part of a trilogy devoted to commemorate the centenary of Dante\u2019s\u00a0<em>Divine<\/em>\u00a0<em>Comedy<\/em>, a collaboration with Artzoid (France). And the visual artist\u00a0<strong>Alba Corral<\/strong>, alongside with\u00a0<strong>Alex Augier<\/strong>, will premiere\u00a0<strong><em>End (o) \u2013 VR<\/em><\/strong>, her virtual version of the fantastic multi-format universe, a co-production with L.E.V. Matadero.<\/p>\n<p>Taiwanese artist\u00a0<strong>Hsin-Chien Huang<\/strong>\u00a0(co-creator of Chalkroom and To the Moon with Laurie Anderson) will premiere in Spain his new work\u00a0<strong><em>Bodyless<\/em><\/strong>: a life journey through the turbulent history of his country. Besides, the audience will enjoy\u00a0<strong><em>Cocotte-minute,\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>a project that combines the aesthetics of nineteenth century woodcuts with handcrafted objects and the virtual world.<\/p>\n<p>VR Cinema, the groundbreaking new format in cinema arts, will also be present in VORTEX. With the help of \u201cvirtual reality\u201d glasses, the audience will discover a narrative developed in several directions simultaneously (360\u00b0). VR Cinema\u2019s discourse can be merely conceptual, as in\u00a0<strong><em>Das Totale Tanz Theater 360<\/em><\/strong>, a piece to commemorate the centenary of Bauhaus, whose soundtrack has been written by the truly unique\u00a0<strong>Einst\u00fcrzende Neubauten<\/strong>. It can also be domestic and tragicomic in\u00a0<strong><em>Your Spiritual Temple Sucks<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0and, of course, it can also be futuristic and fantastic as in\u00a0<strong><em>Ghost in The Shell: Virtual Reality Diver<\/em><\/strong>, a tribute to the eponymous masterpiece. All these films have also been shown at renowned festivals such as Venice, Cannes or Sundance.<\/p>\n<p>These are just some of the many works that will be shown at Nave 0, the old refrigeration room of the slaughterhouse (\u201cmatadero\u201d) during the four days of the Festival.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;40px&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][edgtf_section_title position=&#8221;left&#8221; disable_separator=&#8221;no&#8221; title_tag=&#8221;h4&#8243; disable_title_break_words=&#8221;no&#8221; title=&#8221;AUDIOVISUAL EXPLORATIONS. LAWRENCE LEK: \u00abAIDOL\u00bb AT CINETECA PLAT\u00d3&#8221;][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;20px&#8221;][vc_column_text]<strong><em>AIDOL<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0is the new feature film by\u00a0<strong>Lawrence Lek<\/strong>, one of the artists which better understands and explains all the paradoxes and languages of our dystopian present.<\/p>\n<p><strong>VORTEX<\/strong>\u00a0section of the Festival, featured at Plat\u00f3 Cineteca, will host the Spanish premiere of this film, fully created with 3D rendering, video game software and motion capture techniques.\u00a0<strong><em>AIDOL<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0tells the story of Diva, an AI (Artificial Intelligence) that searches for her own identity while trying to succeed in a futuristic South Asian country controlled by big corporations, supercasinos, video game Olympics, cultural persecutions and virtual worlds.<\/p>\n<p>We will be able to enjoy this film by Lek thanks to the collaboration between L.E.V. and London\u00a0<strong>Somerset House Studios<\/strong>, plus the support of\u00a0<strong>British Council,\u00a0<\/strong>and courtesy of\u00a0<strong>Sadie Coles<\/strong>\u00a0Gallery and the artist himself.\u00a0<strong><em>AIDOL<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0could be considered a sequel to\u00a0<strong><em>Geomancer<\/em><\/strong>, Lawrence Lek\u2019s previous feature film.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;20px&#8221;][vc_video link=&#8221;https:\/\/vimeo.com\/331655114&#8243; align=&#8221;center&#8221;][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;40px&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][edgtf_section_title position=&#8221;left&#8221; disable_separator=&#8221;no&#8221; title_tag=&#8221;h4&#8243; disable_title_break_words=&#8221;no&#8221; title=&#8221;GAME FIELDS, VIDEO GAME AS A REFLECTION OF REALITY. And, because of that, they have a room in\u00a0<strong>VORTEX.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Throughout two sessions of short films created recently, and under the title\u00a0<strong><em>Terrenos de Juego (\u201cGame Fields\u201d)<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>VRTX<\/strong>\u00a0will investigate the interconnection born out of the languages of video games and cinema, paying special attention to the aesthetics and narrative aspects of this hybridization.<\/p>\n<p>Projects such as\u00a0<strong><em>Martin Pleure<\/em><\/strong>, a truly beautiful story created out of a\u00a0<em>Grand Theft Auto<\/em>\u00a0playing session, or\u00a0<strong><em>489 Annes<\/em><\/strong>, deal with the specific theme of war games and violence, whereas other short films such as\u00a0<strong><em>Hyperreality<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0<strong><em>Plastic Garden<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0<strong><em>Swatted<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0<strong><em>Ugly<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0<strong><em>Fest<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0show us a horrifying, dystopian future, born out of the video game universe and also platforms as youtube, which dangerously blends with the real world.
