Festival-Gij\u00f3n will offer an enticing line-up full of groundbreaking audiovisual experiences. This unmissable cultural event will take place on\u00a0May 2-5<\/strong>\u00a0at several locations of\u00a0Laboral Ciudad de la Cultura and the city of Gij\u00f3n<\/strong>, and it is a joint undertaking between the Government of the Principality of Asturias, the Town Council of Gij\u00f3n, LABoral Centro de Arte and Datatr\u00f3n Collective.<\/p>\n

The first preview of L.E.V. Festival\u2019s line-up includes several world premieres of international artists, leaders in electronic sound creation and new artistic trends; works such as the performance\u00a0ScanAudience<\/em>\u00a0and the projects ex(O), Delta-T,<\/em>\u00a0or\u00a0Synspecies<\/em>, co-produced by L.E.V. over the course of several artistic residences at LABoral Centro de Arte.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”40px”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Alex Augier<\/strong>\u00a0returns with another L.E.V. regular,\u00a0Alba G. Corral<\/strong>, to premiere\u00a0ex(O)<\/strong>, the second installment of a poetic, audiovisual diptych inspired in the world of biology. It is a living, evolving piece where sound, image, space and time co-exist. The L.E.V. Festival will host the world premiere of this project, co-produced with Arcadi and La Muse en Circuit.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n

Inspired by virtual ecologies,\u00a0El\u00edas Merino<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Tadej Droljc<\/strong>\u00a0will showcase the international premiere of the audiovisual live show\u00a0Synspecies<\/strong>\u00a0at Gij\u00f3n. It will consist of abstract architectures and algorithmic sounds which explore states of confusion in an unreal, physical world, a sort of synchronized chaos which reveals new spaces in a process of perpetual disintegration.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_single_image image=”32795″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text]Another L.E.V. world premiere:\u00a0Delta-T<\/strong>.\u00a0Matthew Biederman<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Pierce Warnecke\u00a0<\/strong>will explore recent ideas and theories concerning quantum physics, gravity and relativity, to defy compositions based on time. The result: a powerful aural and visual experience whose last stage will take place at Laboral Centro de Arte.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”40px”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Last year, two-piece\u00a0Schnitt<\/strong>\u00a0charmed us with their artistic investigation into visual memory, and in 2019 Marco Monfardini and Amelie Duchow will return to Gij\u00f3n accompanied by\u00a0Gianluca Sibaldi<\/strong>\u00a0to bring us the international premiere of\u00a0ScanAudience<\/strong>, a performance which will try to scan the audience in real time. The spectators will be the main characters in this interactive show, where they will be part of a visual and sound experience conducted by the three artists.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_video link=”https:\/\/vimeo.com\/311270713″ align=”center”][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text]The Berlin-based collective\u00a0Transforma<\/strong>\u00a0is also coming back to Gij\u00f3n with\u00a0Manufactory<\/strong>, a performance with music by\u00a0Sascha Ring<\/strong>\u00a0(the extraordinary Apparat, present at the first L.E.V. Festivals). A live video, choreographies and music to reinterpret human work, from artisans to factories and the cycles of modern production. The work is co-produced by Laboratorio de Electr\u00f3nica Visual with The Barbican, TodaysArt Festival, Schauspielhaus Bochum and Stereolux.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_video link=”https:\/\/vimeo.com\/279759970″ align=”center”][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text]One of the most captivating moments of the 13th<\/sup>\u00a0L.E.V. Festival will be the premiere of the first collaboration between sound researcher\u00a0Caterina Barbieri<\/strong>\u00a0and visual artist\u00a0Ruben Spini<\/strong>, an audiovisual piece that was a big success for the Italian duo at Berlin\u2019s Atonal Festival. This work will enable the audience will be able to travel through a rigid, delicate soundscape, while admiring the beauty of isolated environments.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_single_image image=”32797″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text]The corrosive, abstract techno and futuristic audiovisual live show by\u00a0Lanark Artefax<\/strong>\u00a0will invade the Teatro de la Laboral. A unique opportunity to enjoy a live performance by one of the biggest revelations in contemporary IDM, very well received by critics, producers and the public since his debut on the renowned Whities label.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_single_image image=”32799″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text]Elizabeth Walling\u2019s first live show in Spain took place at L.E.V in 2015. She comes back for our 13th<\/sup>\u00a0Festival with her art project\u00a0Gazelle Twin<\/strong>. Her live performance at Nave de LABoral will include the tracks from her new album\u00a0Pastoral<\/em>, a real soundtrack written by Walling due to her disillusionment over Brexit. Despite the title,\u00a0Pastoral<\/em>\u00a0is anything but bucolic, and her live show blends vocals and samples to reveal the bitterness underlying a green and\u2026 pastoral England.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_video link=”https:\/\/youtu.be\/anM7ZcNBoFw” align=”center”][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text]The L.E.V. Festival will host the first appearance in Gij\u00f3n by\u00a0Bliss Signal<\/strong>, the powerful project from\u00a0James Kelly<\/strong>\u00a0(Wife, Altar of Plagues) and\u00a0Jack Adams<\/strong>\u00a0(Mundance), which goes beyond Kelly\u2019s\u00a0black metal<\/em>\u00a0to generate transcendent fury.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_video link=”https:\/\/youtu.be\/v_IVM6zzIYw” align=”center”][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text]Hiro Kone<\/strong>\u2018s tense techno, industrial minimalism and sonic unrest are encapsulated in her new album,\u00a0Pure Expenditure<\/em>\u00a0(Dais). In Gij\u00f3n, this American songwriter will display her most emotional work, woven into a labyrinth of electronic patterns.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_single_image image=”32801″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text]Australian audiovisual artist\u00a0Robin Fox<\/strong>\u00a0visits the L.E.V.
