L.E.V. 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n

[\/vc_column_text][edgtf_section_title position=”center” disable_separator=”yes” title_tag=”h3″ disable_title_break_words=”no” title=”15 YEARS OF EXPERIMENTS WITH ELECTRONIC SOUNDS, AUDIO VISUAL CREATIONS AND DIGITAL ART”][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text]2021 has been a very special year for L.E.V. During one of the most unforeseen scenarios our society has been forced to deal with, we have also celebrated our fifteenth anniversary since the first L.E.V. Festival in Gij\u00f3n.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Many things have changed since then, but our essence remains unchanged: to go beyond the limits of creativity in all our actions, and to break the mould, keeping track of the current narratives and possibilities offered by today\u2019s electronic sound creation, audiovisual creation and digital art, to bring them closer to anyone interested in discovering the most surprising and avant-garde side of contemporary digital creation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Our year started in February, with\u00a0Hay vida en otros mundos (virtuales)<\/strong><\/em>, an activity organized by Matadero and DIMAD, on the occasion of Madrid Design Festival. It included online chats open to the public, and two extensive workshops about the creation of virtual environments, for design, architecture and fashion students. The starting point for this initiative was the virtual universe\u00a0Planet LEV Matadero<\/strong>, a space of artistic and digital experimentation which can be visited\u00a0online<\/a>\u00a0and as virtual reality in\u00a0Steam<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the 15th L.E.V. Festival in Gij\u00f3n was taking shape\u2026[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”40px”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][edgtf_section_title position=”left” disable_separator=”no” title_tag=”h4″ disable_title_break_words=”no” title=”L.E.V. FESTIVAL: GIJ\u00d3N, 15TH ANNIVERSARY”][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text]From July 22 to 25, L.E.V. Festival occupied different city spaces with amazing works of audiovisual art, electronic music and digital art.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_video link=”https:\/\/vimeo.com\/597636437″ align=”center”][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text]Supported by\u00a0Gij\u00f3n\u2019s Town Council<\/strong>, this year\u2019s line up included several audiovisual performances and live shows at Teatro Jovellanos and Teatro de la LABoral, by artists\u00a0Ryoichi Kurokawa<\/strong>,\u00a0fuse*<\/strong>,\u00a0Lucie Antunes<\/strong>,\u00a0Fasenuova + Marta Verde<\/strong>,\u00a0Tadej Drolic\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Alex Augier<\/strong>; the first Spanish solo exhibition by new media artist\u00a0Hsin-Chien Huang<\/strong>, a joint effort with\u00a0Taiwan\u2019s Ministry of Culture and Economic and Taipei\u2019s Trade Office in Spain<\/strong>, plus virtual reality shows at Capilla del Palacio Revillagigedo; two audiovisual installations at Centro de Cultura Antiguo Instituto and LABoral Centro de Arte, by\u00a0El\u00edas Merino & Sergio Mill\u00e1n<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Fred Penelle & Yannick Jacquet<\/strong>; and augmented reality experiences at Escuela de Comercio and Espig\u00f3n de Fomento, created by\u00a0Adrien M & Claire B,\u00a0Brest Brest Brest<\/strong>\u00a0collective, and\u00a0Julie Stephen Chheng<\/strong>. The festival has been funded with a subsidy of the\u00a0Government of the\u00a0Principality of Asturias<\/strong>.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/2″][vc_single_image image=”34008″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/2″][vc_single_image image=”34010″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_video link=”https:\/\/vimeo.com\/652363677″ align=”center”][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text]In a collaboration with the\u00a0Youth Department<\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0Principality of Asturias\u2019 Conseyu de la Moced\u00e1<\/strong>, the Escuela de Comercio also hosted a workshop for youngsters about electronic and vocal musical creations, directed by sound project\u00a0dot tape dot<\/strong>, who played two shows with his students at Mus\u00e9u del Pueblu d\u2019Asturies. Besides, artist\u00a0Cyril Meroni<\/strong>\u00a0showcased live the results of his residency at LABoral Centro de Arte, the audiovisual performance\u00a0Advienne<\/em>.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_video link=”https:\/\/vimeo.com\/600503194″ align=”center”][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Two activities from the Festival are still open to the public: until January 2021 at LABoral Centro de Arte, the audiovisual installation\u00a0M\u00e9caniques Discursives<\/a><\/em>\u00a0<\/i>by\u00a0Fred Penelle<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Yannick Jacquet<\/strong>, included in the programme\u00a0A\u00f1os Luz<\/strong>, with the support of\u00a0Fundaci\u00f3n EDP<\/strong>; and, as a permanent exhibition at Espig\u00f3n de Fomento, the augmented reality experience\u00a0Uramado AR. The third\u00a0L.E.V. Matadero, Festival of Visual Electronica and Immersive Experiences<\/strong>, took place between September 23-26. It was produced by Matadero Madrid, with the collaboration of Matadero\u2019s Cineteca Madrid and Naves del Espa\u00f1ol, and directed by Datatr\u00f3n platform.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n

In the course of four days, the festival offered eight double sessions\u00a0of live music shows and performances, ten virtual reality experiences, four wide-format audiovisual installations, and one free-entrance, open-space augmented reality experience<\/strong>\u00a0at Matadero Madrid. Besides, throughout the whole Saturday, and thanks to a collaboration with Medialab, the festival brought together a long list of artists and collectives to put into practice the creative possibilites of augmented reality, and to share their current projects in this field.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_video link=”https:\/\/vimeo.com\/657750300″ align=”center”][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text]Madrid audiences warmly welcomed this year\u2019s programme: all tickets for live shows and VORTEX section virtual reality shows were sold out, as well as the tickets for the installations showed on the weekend. The augmented reality show\u00a0Fauna<\/em>, by creative French duo Adrien M & Claire B and the collective of designers Brest Brest Brest, will remain active until January 6 2022.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The festival also boasted a groundbreaking official image, collaborating with 3D artist Lola Zoido to create a filter in augmented reality, which was included in the poster for L.E.V. Matadero 2021, and now it is available for all the followers of L.E.V.\u2019s Instagram.<\/p>\n

While we were busy developing new projects and collaborations in 2021, it was also the fifteenth anniversary of our festival, something really exciting.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Thanks to all the people and institutions which have helped us along the way. A way which has revealed something new on every step, which has proved us that human creativity knows no limits and will never fail to amaze us. Because we live in a constantly changing, complex world, but our curiosity to reach new horizons of artistic expressions knows no limits.<\/strong><\/p>\n

From Gij\u00f3n to Madrid, from the physical world to cyberspace, at L.E.V. we will keep on exploring the most surprising side of contemporary artistic creation, in order to share it will all of you.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n
