«The whole theatre should be a stage!»
Bauhaus artists dreamed of a theatre that would liberate its audiences from their passivity and place them at the centre of the action in an imaginary world.
Acclaimed choreographer Richard Siegal and cult band Einstürzende Neubauten make the bauhaus dream of “total theatre” a reality in this anniversary year. Fusing body and space together, they deploy virtual reality to transplant Walter Gropius’s and Oskar Schlemmer’s experiments in stagecraft into the digital age.
Das Totale Tanz Theater 360 Based on the interactive virtual reality installation Das Totale Tanz Theater, and in partnership with the TVnetworks ZDF and ARTE, the Interactive Media Foundation developedDas Totale Tanz Theater360.
The six-minute 360° video draws viewers into anintricately designed virtual stage that presents Richard Siegal’schoreography accompanied by a song specially created for the video by Einstürzende Neubauten.
