On Saturday, April 30, in collaboration with Gijón’s Town Council Youth Department, Escuela de Comercio will host a conversation with Jana Rush, essential artist of Chicago’s house and footwork scene, in which she will talk about her extensive career as a DJ and producer.
Jana Rush started DJing at the tender age of ten and producing just three years later, becoming one of the youngest female DJs ever. After taking a break from music, working as a chemical engineer by day and as a Cat Scan Technologist assistant at night, Rush re-entered the scene in 2016, and in 2017 released Pariah, which was lauded as one of the best albums of the year. Her latest album Painful Enlightenment, which she will perform live at the festival, is presented as her most personal work to date.
