L.E.V. Festival takes place in Gijón and distributes its activities in different public and cultural spaces of the city. The concerts, audiovisual performances, installations and other activities that make up this year’s line up can be enjoyed at Teatro de la Laboral, Teatro Jovellanos, LABoral Centro de Arte, Muséu del Pueblu d’Asturies, Centro de Cultura Antiguo Instituto, Escuela de Comercio and Jardín Botánico Atlántico.

Venues

Teatro de la Laboral

Inaugurated in October 2007 after more than two years of intense remodelling, that has provided it with unbeatable acoustics and an excellent capacity to host all kinds of performances, Teatro de la Laboral is nowadays the leading theatre in Asturias and one of the best in the north of Spain. In this venue, we will enjoy some of the most impressive audiovisual and sound projects of today: on Friday 3 May, with Aïsha Devi, Martin Messier, Riccardo Giovinetto and Bromo; and on Saturday 4 May, with Noémi Büchi, Myriam Bleau & Nien Tzu Weng and SYNSPECIES. In addition, on Wednesday 1 and Thursday 2 May, the stage box of the Theatre will host the performative av installation The Third Reich by Romeo Castellucci, in different showings.

LABoral Centro de Arte. Nave

An old industrial warehouse of the Laboral University, recovered in 2007 to become part of LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial, will be the location for the programme on Saturday 4 May from midnight onwards, with live performances by Evian Christ, LCY, Puce Mary, Jacques and Sin Maldita&Lei.

Muséu del Pueblu d’Asturies

The aim of the Muséu del Pueblu d’Asturies is to preserve the historical memory of Asturian people. It was founded in 1968 and occupies an area of 35,000 m, in which there are several buildings and a brackish water pond. The museum works on research, conservation and dissemination of the ethnography and history of Asturias. On Saturday 4 May, the Tendayu will host performances by RRUCCULLA, Dengue Dengue Dengue Dengue, Cachito Turulo and Kessell&Kerqus.

Teatro Jovellanos

The Jovellanos Theater, located in the center of the city, is a cultural reference in Gijón and Asturias. This year, the festival has programmed in its stage box the multichannel installation Distrust Everything by Italian artist LOREM, which can be seen from May 1 to 3 in different passes and with free admission.

Escuela de Comercio

Escuela de Comercio will be the headquarters for L.E.V. Festival’s activities around extended realities, hosting two virtual reality experiences and an augmented reality experience, from May 2 to 5 with free admission, and a workshop for young people to explore music creation in the Metaverse.

Centro de Cultura Antiguo Instituto (CCAI)

Centro de Cultura Antiguo Instituto is a key location for the creation, production and dissemination of art and culture in the city. This year it will host an audiovisual installation created by Guillaume Marmin, from May 2 to 12 with free admission.

Jardín Botánico Atlántico

A botanical garden specialized in the flora and vegetation of the Atlantic territories. 16 hectares and more than 30,000 plants and 2,000 different species make this space a spectacular museum of plant exhibition and dissemination, and the best possible setting to enjoy the live performances of artists Scanner and Sophia Loizou on Sunday 5 May, in an experience to be enjoyed through wireless headphones that will be the closing event of this edition of the festival.

Plaza del Parchís

Plaza del Instituto Jovellanos, popularly known as Plaza del Parchís, is one of the most emblematic places in Gijón and a meeting point for locals in the city centre, just a few meters away from San Lorenzo beach, Escuela de Comercio and Centro de Cultura Antiguo Instituto. From 2 to 19 May, this square will host the free augmented reality experience Slow Walker.
