CARMEN JACI & MATTHEW SCHOEN _CA/QC

Live shows & av performances

In L.E.V. Matadero 2025, artists Carmen Jaci and Matthew Schoen collaborate on an immersive audiovisual performance that explores the emotional and aesthetic complexities of our relationship with digital systems, data, and algorithms.

Through a non-linear narrative in which sound and image interact in real-time, the duo proposes a poetic and critical reflection on identity in the age of information overexposure. This transdisciplinary collaboration turns personal and social data into a work where the intimate and the technological intertwine.

Since her beginnings as an electronic music producer, Carmen Jaci has incorporated the collection and measurement of personal data related to issues such as job insecurity, uncertainty, or anxiety about the future into her artistic practice. These records serve as raw material for a socio-political discourse that resonates in Matthew Schoen’s visual universe, fostering a fluid audiovisual conversation between sound and form.

The result is a constellation of visual and sound stimuli that evokes a childlike curiosity toward digital networks, as well as the bewilderment and surrealism of an identity increasingly mediated by automated systems. Through graphic interfaces inspired by mobile applications, the piece translates the digital routine into an audiovisual language that is both sensitive and critical.
