H U M I. RICCARDO GIOVINETTO

_IT

H U M I is an immersive audiovisual installation that explores the notion of the border not as a fixed boundary, but as a porous, fluid element through which to imagine new, ever-shifting geographies.

Presented across four screens, the work combines a manipulated stream of high-resolution satellite imagery from some of the world’s most densely populated regions with field recordings and found sounds, processed through algorithms and sound synthesis techniques to generate new visual and sonic forms. By layering and hybridising distant landscapes, the installation gives rise to imagined geographies where boundaries dissolve and territories are continuously reconfigured into new spatial constellations.

Image and sound evolve in real time, immersing audiences in a synaesthetic and contemplative experience. The result is an environment that challenges conventional notions of borders and identity, where visual language reflects the complexity and interconnectedness of the contemporary world.

Riccardo Giovinetto is an Italian multimedia artist, physicist and university professor. Giovinetto’s works take on multiple forms such as audio video performances, installations and concert compositions. He creates sound reactive sculptures through digital structures generated and manipulated in real time, resulting in a renewed relationship between sound and image.
