L.E.V. Festival announces new dates for Gijón and advances three names of this year’s bill
- SQUAREPUSHER will headline 14th L.E.V. Festival
The new L.E.V.’s Festival will take place between April 30th and May 3 2020, at several spaces of Laboral Ciudad de la Cultura and other facilities of the city of Gijón.
This 14th L.E.V. Festival will be headlined by a renowned English artist from mythical Warp label: Squarepusher (Tom Jenkinson). After a five-year hiatus, he will release his long-awaited new album Be Up A Hello on January 31th 2020, a new attack employing all his usual analogue hardware and digital vintage instruments. Despite this, the artist uses a new approach in order to re-elaborate and renovate that distinctive sound from Squarepusher’s first album, released twenty-five years ago. He is one of the most reputable names in the world of electronic music, and he will showcase his new release and A/V live show at 14th L.E.V. Festival.
Japanese artist Ryoichi Kurokawa comes back to Gijón to showcase Subassemblies, an A/V live show that impressed the audience at the first L.E.V. Matadero (Madrid). Ruins, buildings invaded by nature and decaying architectural works, superimposed and reconstructed… The relationship between nature and man’s work through the perspective of an architect’ scale.
Oval (Markus Popp) is another legendary name who will take part of 14th L.E.V. Festival. When he started his career in the 90s he was instantly recognized as a revolutionary, groundbreaking artist. His very own approach to musical creation was thirty years ahead of what we know today as Artificial Intelligence. On January 2020 he will release his new album Scis, a new creative challenge for this German artist that we will enjoy as an A/V live format in the next L.E.V. Festival.
Laboratorio de Electrónica Visual (L.E.V.), constantly searching in the world of contemporary digital creativity, keeps opting for the most cutting-edge names in audiovisual arts. An initiative with a long story behind, co-produced with the Government of the Principality of Asturias, the Town Council of Gijón, LABoral Centro de Arte and Datatrón Collective.
New names from the line-up at L.E.V. Festival will be announced soon.
