Maxwell Sterling. Hollywood Medieval: Quadruplum Recital
Sunday May 1
Muséu del Pueblu d’Asturies
Maxwell Sterling is a composer, producer, musician and artist, originally from Manchester. His debut record Hollywood Medieval (Death of Rave, 2016) set out his fascination with the glitches between the traditions of acoustic and synthesized music.
For this special one-off performance in L.E.V. Festival, Maxwell revisits his first album with Hollywood Medieval: Quadruplum Recital. The composition plays with blurring the boundary between synthetic and real, which is further explored in a live context. Scored for double bass, electric double bass and modular synthesisers, Maxwell builds upon Hollywood Medievals polyrhythmic structure adding a new melodic voice (quadruplum) that showcases the artists growth and change since his debut.
