LAUREN MOFFATT COMPOST AR (FLOWERS FOR SUZANNE CLAIR)
Augmented City. Urban experiences of augmented reality
In this edition of L.E.V. Matadero, the Augmented City section will present the piece Compost AR (Flowers for Suzanne Clair) by the Australian artist based in Spain, Lauren Moffatt, in which she uses video game technologies fused with conventional painting techniques to digitally reconstruct flowers and plants, while investigating new ways of deceleration and environmental regeneration.
This greenery is developed using a 3D scanning technique in which the artist manipulates the reconstruction algorithm to cause small errors and accidents, in order to create a living, indeterminate digital strangeness that will sprout before the user’s eyes through the screen of their smartphone in augmented reality.
