L.E.V. Festival (Laboratorio de Electrónica Visual) will hold its 19th edition from May 1 to 4, 2025, bringing a unique four-day program to Gijón. With audiovisual performances, concerts, and audiovisual installations in various venues across the city, the festival continues to establish itself as an essential reference for audiovisual and electronic creativity, both nationally and internationally. The festival now reveals the final names that complete its live show lineup.
The spaces Teatro de la Laboral, Nave de LABoral Centro de Arte and Muséu del Pueblu d’Asturies will be the epicenter of sound and visual creation in this edition of L.E.V. Festival, hosting several worldwide premieres in Spain.
The Festival once again will turn Teatro de la Laboral into one of its main venues on May 2nd and 3rd, with a program that brings together renowned artists in the field of visual electronics and sound experimentation. Influential Japanese composer Ryoji Ikeda presents Ultratronics [live], a performance merging sound and light with mathematical precision, in collaboration with Japan Foundation Madrid. A pioneer in using data as a creative medium, his work envelops the audience in an experience where extreme sound frequencies and minimalist visuals converge, pushing the boundaries of sensory perception. Also on this stage, the Ukrainian artist Katarina Gryvul, together with Alex Guevara, premieres in Spain SPOMYN, a multidisciplinary performance that delves into the fragility of memory. Gryvul’s new work is characterized by unfinished sounds, which allude to the fragmentary way in which human memory is constructed.

This powerful program also includes Amelie Duchow, who presents her project LOGOS MATER, a constantly evolving composition based on vocal contributions collected from around the planet. With this work, she reminds us of the indissoluble relationship between sound and language, and includes the public in a work that is in continuous development.
L.E.V presents at Teatro de la Laboral, in a Spanish premiere, ANIMAL, the new work by Ash Fure, an artistic production that combines performance and sound sculpture. Created with architect Xavi Aguirre, the space is transformed into an auditory training circuit where sound is felt physically. Ash Fure, experimental composer and professor at Dartmouth College, blurs the boundaries between music, architecture, and performance. Her work, presented in spaces such as Berghain and IRCAM, explores vibration and architectural resonance. With ANIMAL, she claims an embodied listening in the face of the advance of artificial intelligence in music.
In a context marked by the hegemony of large technology corporations and the massive accumulation of data, creative spaces become key tools for reflection and critical analysis. From this perspective, YESSi PERSE will present in this same space the world premiere of Fairytales of Eternal Economic Growth, an audiovisual and sound proposal that examines the impact of the digital economy on contemporary society. Through its approach, this work delves into issues such as technofeudalism, data extraction, and digital servitude imposed by large technology companies, establishing a parallel between past and current control models.
Another of the highlighted names of this year is Colin Self, who returns to the festival to present Gasp!, the second opera of his Self’s Shadow series. His work, which explores spiritual guidance and queer ancestry, combines singing, movement, and a powerful scenic component to offer an immersive and collective experience. Also at Teatro de la Laboral, Pinch & Lorem will present A Red Rabbit, an audiovisual journey that immerses the audience in a narrative of mystery and tension, blurring the lines between reality and imagination. Pinch, a leading figure in dubstep and electronic club music, teams up with Lorem, an artist renowned for exploring human consciousness and emotions through visceral audiovisual narratives, creating a unique universe that unfolds live on stage.
Night activities on Saturday, May 3rd at Nave de LABoral Centro de Arte. In a world constantly changing, where technology redefines our interactions and perceptions, art emerges as a fundamental tool to question and explore new narratives. This is demonstrated by the artists who take part in this year’s festival.
From this critical and renewing perspective, British artist BABii, alter ego of the multidisciplinary creator, world builder, and electronic adventurer Daisy Warne, constructs an abstract interpretation of evil and projects her personal vision of hell in her new album, Daredevil 2000. Through an intense narrative, she raises questions about the nature of transgression and morality in a constantly changing world, while the artist examines her own relationship with those whom society considers undesirable. Inspired by Dante’s Inferno, the album delves into the roots of violence and criminality, exploring how these concepts intertwine with contemporary reality. Artists such as Freeka Tet, in collaboration with Amnesia Scanner, will also present a work that analyzes contemporary subjectivities, drawing from internet culture, memes, trolls, and irrational human behavior. They will present their collaborative project HOAX.
British artist Iglooghost will perform at La Nave Tidal Memory Exo, an album written and produced in a storm-swept coastal town in the UK. The album combines detailed soundscapes with fictional narratives about trilobite civilizations, turning their mythology into an immersive audiovisual experience. Meanwhile, Mun Sing will deliver a live performance filled with emotional intensity and experimental rhythms, showcasing their recent EP Frolic. Lastly, Cortical, the project of Sevi Iko Domochevsky and Daniel Benza, will take the audience on a radical sound journey with their blend of noise, experimental, and industrial music, debuting their album Wretched Patterns and Terrible Mistakes. Their work envisions dystopian futures where Artificial Intelligences have seized control of the world, establishing a new hierarchical and paradoxical order arising from the depths of chaos.

Muséu del Pueblu d’Asturies will be one of the key venues of L.E.V. Festival and offers a vibrant program on Saturday, May 3rd. This space hosts a diverse lineup with national and international artists who fuse contemporary audiovisual experimentation, and who return to their personal genealogies to understand our dense present.

Uruguayan Lila Tirando a Violeta presents a preview of her upcoming album, exploring new sound dimensions with Latin American influences. Artist Kabeaushé brings his rave energy and eccentric electronic vision to the festival. Meanwhile, Asturian artist Jailed Jaime will premiere Hyperdrive, a work that blends electro, jungle, and UK garage.
With these additions, plus audiovisual installations like Robbie Cooper‘s at Centro de Cultura Antiguo Instituto, and Ivan Liu’s at Colegiata del Palacio Revillagigedo, confirm L.E.V. Festival‘s commitment to contemporary creation and experimentation, offering audiences a glimpse into the future of audiovisual art.
Jardín Botánico Atlántico
Mizu | Dylan Henner
L.E.V. Festival 2025 will come to an end on Sunday, May 4th with one of its most special proposals: two outdoor morning performances at Laguna Boreal del Jardín Botánico Atlántico. This natural enclave will be the perfect setting to enjoy the experimental electronic music of two artists, whose proposals will open new sound paths.

Mizu, an artist who builds expansive soundscapes through her unique way of playing the cello. Her compositions fuse recordings of the instrument with electronic manipulation and experimental production, and are distinguished by their ability to generate hypnotic and immersive atmospheres. In this year of the festival, she presents a live show that brings together the best of her three works to date: 4 | 2 | 3, Forest Scenes and Distant Intervals. Her performance fuses the intensity of 4 | 2 | 3, the ethereal textures of Forest Scenes and the energy of Distant Intervals, resulting in a multisensory experience that incorporates live performance and body expression.
The other proposal that closes the program is the work of Dylan Henner, one of the best-kept secrets of ambient-experimental music. Throughout his career, he has avoided social networks, preferring to communicate through his soundscapes and poetic titles. His music, which mixes synthesized voices, field recordings, and synthesizers, creates symphonies that oscillate between the serene and the desolate. Henner’s work addresses philosophical questions about humanity and technology. His performance at L.E.V. is an exceptional opportunity to immerse in his introspective and philosophical sound universe.
Audiovisual installations by Robbie Cooper at Centro de Cultura Antiguo Instituto, and by Ivan Liu at Colegiata del Palacio Revillagigedo
Robbie Cooper. Immersion (extended version)

L.E.V. Festival, in its dedication to explore the synergies between art, technology, and digital culture, the Festival once again presents an audiovisual installation in partnership with the Centro de Cultura Antiguo Instituto, a landmark cultural venue in the city. From May 1 to 18, visitors can enjoy free access to this immersive installation, which this year showcases the work of British visual artist and programmer Robbie Cooper.
With a focus on research into identity and digital presence, Cooper has created projects that examine the relationship between individuals and the technologies that shape their everyday lives. His work lies at the intersection of art, sociology, and technology, addressing themes such as media representation, virtual world immersion, and how digitalization alters our perception of reality.
For Immersion, Cooper spent four years recording people of various ages and backgrounds interacting with digital media, capturing their spontaneous emotional reactions to video games, social networks, entertainment videos, and other screen-based experiences. The resulting video installation shows these expressions in the foreground, in a visually impactful format that creates a mirror effect between the protagonists of the recordings and the viewers of the work. By observing the gestures and emotions of others, the public faces an immersive and reflective experience that invites them to question their own relationship with image, virtuality, and technology.
In the Festival, Robbie Cooper will present the extended version, curated by L.E.V., that includes unpublished material of the work, offering an even deeper look at this contemporary phenomenon. A proposal that challenges our way of looking and being looked at in the digital age, in a space where art and technology converge to generate new forms of perception and dialogue.
Ivan Liu
Ivan Liu. Echoes of the Land
Taiwanese artist and researcher Ivan Liu comes to the L.E.V. Festival with Echoes of the Land, an interactive installation inviting the public to engage in an immersive dialogue between humanity and the Earth, made possible with the support from the Ministry of Culture of Taiwan and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Spain. The work explores the connection between human activity and natural phenomena, addressing how our actions can trigger seismic events and disrupt the planet’s equilibrium.
The installation combines a mechanical kinetic device with motion sensors and advanced sound techniques, including granular synthesis. Through direct interaction, visitors can apply force to the structure, accumulating energy to a critical point. At this point, the installation initiates a sequence of interconnected movements and sound vibrations, simulating earthquake dynamics and transforming human action into a physical and sonic experience.
A standout feature of the work is its visual presentation. Echoes of the Land has two six-meter screens, which will occupy the space of the chapel, and which amplify the sensory experience, projecting in real time the transformations of the environment as viewers interact with the installation. These images, which oscillate between the macroscopic and the microscopic, reinforce the contrast between the tangible and the digital, the natural and the artificial, offering an amplified perception of seismic changes and their effects.
With this piece, Ivan Liu not only creates an immersive landscape, but also invites us to reflect on our relationship with the environment and the consequences of our intervention in nature. His work has been presented in prominent institutions such as IRCAM, Chroniques Biennales, ISEA 2025, and the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, consolidating himself as one of the important contemporary voices at the intersection of art, science, and technology.
L.E.V. (Laboratorio de Electrónica Visual) is a platform of production, promotion and experimentation related to electronic sound creations, audiovisual creations and digital art.
