Augmented Reality Experience
Arenas Movedizas presents the augmented reality experience Slow Walker, created by Swedish artist, director and writer Peder Bjurman. In it, a microscopic tardigrade appears as a gigantic being, visible through the screen of your mobile device, taking over the public space of Gijón.
Tardigrades are living organisms capable of resisting extreme temperatures of cold and heat. They survive in space and can remain frozen for thirty years, resist vacuum and even radiation. However, they are very sensitive to climate change and are threatened by rising temperatures in their natural habitats, wetlands and mosses. They are resilient fighters in a microscopic format.
This fascinating, monumental and, at the same time, ephemeral creature is shown in this experience as a mystical and symbolic being that floats between life and death, as a colossal geo-located AR sculpture that slowly moves through the city, grazing and interacting with the public as it approaches. All this, accompanied by a soundtrack created by Abul Mogard and a voice-over narration, immerses us fully in the experience.

Virtual Reality Experience
Taiwanese director and animation artist Fish Wang collaborates with Funique VR studio to create the virtual reality experience Red Tail, inspired by Fish’s comic of the same name and winner of the 2023 Cristal Award for best VR work at the Annecy festival.
The story begins in a train station floating on a cloud. A mysterious red fish tail catches the attention of a boy. Chasing it, he travels through magical places, meets strange creatures and finally encounters a knight who seems to know his secrets and sorrows better than he does. What is behind the red tail and where will it take him next?
This fascinating journey creates a poetic metaphor about our childhood memories, about the pain that is part of growing up, inviting us to feel and accept it as something inherent to our life experience in order to become a better version of ourselves.

Virtual Reality Experience
South African director Rick Treweek’s virtual reality experience Uncanny Alley, winner at the Raindance Festival in the Best Immersive World 2022 section, explores the current state of the Metaverse from a small corner of the virtual universe VRChat.
VRChat is an ever-expanding universe driven by a passionate community creating and sharing virtual worlds, avatars and interactive experiences since 2015. An active and open social environment where we can interact in real time with other users while navigating through fascinating worlds, which we can also create ourselves. From this platform, the Uncanny Alley project addresses various topics and concepts of the Metaverse based on the real world, drawing inspiration from the communities that are building the foundations of the open Metaverse such as M3 (Metaverse Makers) and The MVC (Metaverse Crew).
During the experience, we follow Gh0st, Glitch and other Metazins as they navigate their little part of the Metaverse. Gh0st has disappeared while working on systems to cross worlds, so we follow the clues and revelations of this immersive universe until we eventually discover an existence beyond what seemed possible, where the fourth wall of the Metaverse is broken, revealing a glimpse of the open Metaverse.

Workshop for teenagers
As part of the celebration of a new edition of Arenas Movedizas and L.E.V. Festival, Escuela de Comercio will host a workshop aimed at teenagers in which they will discover the creative possibilities of virtual environments. Specifically, musical creation in virtual reality. To do so, we will work with PatchWorld, an unprecedented tool created by the international studio PatchXR, co-founded by Mélodie Mousset and Eduardo Fouilloux, with which we will be able to build totally immersive musical worlds for the metaverse.
During three sessions of three hours each, we will learn the foundations of this tool, together with concepts of electronic and contemporary music, and we will explore in a practical and playful way the infinite possibilities it offers, ranging from building new musical instruments to synthesising and sequencing electronic sounds, creating avatars or looping musical structures and recording them on video, using a friendly and interactive interface and Oculus Quest virtual reality headsets.
